MASK Blog - The journey of "Show Me Love" Chapter 5: Imposter Syndrome
We were listening to a lot of “Chic” records in the studio to get inspiration for “Show Me Love” and as a result, we developed a serious bout of ‘imposter syndrome!
At one point we just felt that we had no right to be dipping our toes into the genre’s of funk or disco and on this occasion, we may be too far out of our comfort zone. That and wrestling with the recording (see previous blog) meant that I decided to give the song away and so I started looking at female acts better suited with the genre.
What changed my mind was hearing the sweet bliss that is “Another One Bites The Dust” by Queen. After that, I knew that ’Show Me Love’ would be our song and regardless of what genre we ever go to, we will own it! I will even grow the handle bar-moustache if I have to! (Craig can stroke it on stage whilst I dry-hump his leg to climax... Too much?)
